A log of my posts across the forums.
Published on June 2, 2009 By GunslingerBara In Forum Issues

Hello everyone!

I just pushed an update to the forums with some heavy performance improvements done to the backend by our database engineer.  A lot of things were changed, so I don't expect this update to be perfect.  Please take a look around, and if you notice any problems or any areas that could use another performance boost, let me know here!

There were also other, minor changes made to the design and back-end structure of the forums.  Most of these are miniscule, so I won't bother to list them, but anything that seems off or wrong is definitely a bug, so be sure to let me know here or via PM!

They are here, but you have to manually type the page number into the address, eg http: //forums.stardock.com/354669/page/4

Of course, if you don't know that, you won't be reading this...

I cannot see the 2nd page of Unlimited expansion by us and the players

Also I have had posts of stuff disappear and not be posted

I had a case where I made a reply and it didn't show up after I hit the post reply button but a minute later it was there.

i had the exact opposite of this. i made a reply it showed up straight away, then 2 mins later, there was no replies in that thread, mind you it does show up in "my replies" with a number of replies as zero.

OK....third try to post here!

I had a case where I made a reply and it didn't show up after I hit the post reply button but a minute later it was there.

Ditto....but I've had this happen numerous times.

This problem was there before the update too though.

Made a few replies to some posts about 6 hours ago, and they went through. Pages showed me the reply like they went through at least. I checked back on a few of them a few minutes ago since I wanted to add something else, but now they don't show up. It's like they got back-dated. Also some of the posts had some replies about the same time as I did, and those don't show up either.

For the super-low severity/priority list: The link to this thread that's in the announcement pop-up is invisible in updated FireFox when viewed from Elemental. I could click it, but I can't see it even after having followed it (no color change for followed links in that control?)

Still getting posting problems, says I have replied but no reply showing..... Where are they going?

+1 karma for posting the fix.  On a hidden page.

Well, the post listing says that there are other replies after my last post, but that's the last one I see here... o.0 Other threads don't seem to have this problem, though. Tried clearing the cache, same problem. Now I'm confused.

on Jun 03, 2009

Tried posting in this thread a minute ago to say that I could see that there were replies, but no replies showed up after my last post. Went to the actual blog page and it's showing the other replies, but now my last post didn't show up that I tried to post through the forum....

UPDATE: I could see both posts after I posted, and it updated from two pages to 6! Seems like there's a bad caching problem or something...... It also updated the page for the forum after the blog page updated. Seems like it's not refreshing the page when you revisit it, but again, seems to be the only thread that it's doing that in for me.

Difference between the two views as of the post above. (I had edited it in the blog mode)

Now the view from forum mode....

Hope it helps.
