A log of my posts across the forums.
Published on June 2, 2009 By GunslingerBara In Forum Issues

Hello everyone!

I just pushed an update to the forums with some heavy performance improvements done to the backend by our database engineer.  A lot of things were changed, so I don't expect this update to be perfect.  Please take a look around, and if you notice any problems or any areas that could use another performance boost, let me know here!

There were also other, minor changes made to the design and back-end structure of the forums.  Most of these are miniscule, so I won't bother to list them, but anything that seems off or wrong is definitely a bug, so be sure to let me know here or via PM!

*same bug when you edit...goes to the OP w/o comments.

Well it's probably not a bug, and I had it before the update, but the page tends to take ages to load:

Page Render Time: 0:0:5:323 (5323ms)

Now I'm in the EU and servers are almost certainly in the USA, but that is rediculous. I don't really care that much since pages load anyway and I just read another page while loading, but it's kind of slow for a forum.

To compare, a random other site in the USA:

This page was generated in 0.0101 seconds.

So errm, are the servers cracking under the pressure? Is the database low on coffee? Am I having a routing problem? Maybe it's just me, looking forward to some other stats, especially of those also on this continent.

The announcement appeared w/o all the above posts...thought I was the first. Also Your karma appeared as 0 so you got +3 from me.

I have the same problem! Running Windows 7 RC and ofcourse the integrated IE8.

Also, could you make it so that alt+s also sends your post? I've been using that shortcut since ICQ and most forums I am on also have that shortcut, but not this one.

ok maybe im missign something but under "my replies" i no longer see the arrow that used to take me to the last reply i had read on that post.  Is it gone, or is there a new way to do this?

Can see https://forums.joeuser.com on IE but not in Firefox.... tried clearing cookies, cache, everything. Dunno what's doing it but it's just a blank white page in Firefox. Running the latest version of Firefox 3.

This post just jumped from having 0 to 20 replies when I refreshed the page for the second time a minute or two after the first time.

on Jun 02, 2009

Doh. This thread registers as having zero replies for me even when I clear my cache.

Also.....

Aaaand now we are losing posts left and right from all across the boards.

on Jun 02, 2009

I had a case where I made a reply and it didn't show up after I hit the post reply button but a minute later it was there.

on Jun 02, 2009

Well... now in IE this thread shows 24 replies in it, but the counter at the top shows only 20 still....

FF3 latest release version

im having the same issue, i went to a post that said zero replies, i posted, but it turns out there were about 4 posts already there once i pressed the reply button

now im trying to go back to the post because the OP posted again and when i clicked on the thread the OP comes up but there are no replies, then i backed out to the main page and it says there are no replies there...

I'm having similar problems. Posts that I know I've replied to and have other replies say that there are 0 replys, and I can't see them. And the counters for the # of replies are less than they should be.

Also.....

Fixed, the poster just above where it went haywire had copy-pasted some HTML with an unclosed tag...

on Jun 02, 2009

i just made a post here about 20 mins ago, it obviously didnt show up here but it showed up in the My Replies section

anyway, i was going to say i have the same issue with replies, went to a post that had 'zero' replies, replied and when i pressed the button it appeared that the thread already had 4 posts. then when i tried to go back to that post, it showed up with zero posts, no matter how many times i refreshed...
